In Chinese it is called 灵芝 (líng zhī), often translated as “spirit mushroom” or “mushroom of immortality.” Ganoderma is a very powerful symbol connected with longevity, immortality, and good fortune.
It grows on old tree trunks and has a distinctive fan-shaped cap with a glossy surface, which makes it visually striking and easy to recognise in paintings.
